About The Role
Reporting to the Director, Project Accounting, our client is seeking a skilled Assistant Controller to oversee the day-to-day activities of a portfolio of construction projects and corporate entities to ensure timely reporting and sound financial management.
What you will do: - Lead the execution of core financial processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash flow management.
- Monitor and manage financial transactions to ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards.
- Oversee and maintain project accounting records, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and analyze job cost reports, ensuring alignment with budgets and forecasts.
- Support financial planning and cost management for active development projects.
- Identify opportunities for process enhancements and implement best practices to improve operational efficiency.
- Mentor and guide Accounting Administrators, providing coaching, training, and troubleshooting support to enhance their skills and ensure accuracy in financial processes.
- Act as a resource for problem-solving, assisting the team in resolving accounting challenges and improving efficiencies in day-to-day operations.
About You - CPA designation.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in construction accounting.
- Strong knowledge of construction cost control, and project financial management.
- Demonstrated ability to lead process improvement initiatives
- Great communication and attention to detail skills
- Experience with Yardi Elevate and Procore software systems.
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in financial reporting tools.
- Knowledge of Canadian accounting standards, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
