Business Development Manager - Toronto - Heavy Civil & Infrastructure
Duties and Responsibilities: - Represent the organization in select key markets across Ontario.
- Build brand recognition in the Ontario market, focusing on the GTA infrastructure and Northern Ontario renewable energies.
- Work with internal resources to continuously update and maintain the brand with all existing and potential new key markets.
- Ensure all relevant public and private sector clients know the organization’s story, background, and capabilities in the selected key markets, fostering a positive image as a preferred contracting partner.
- Ensure the organization is pre-qualified with all relevant public and private sector clients and contracting authorities for upcoming and ongoing work programs in the selected key markets.
- Identify and track all upcoming and active opportunities through existing opportunity tracking and sales channels, ensuring a robust and continuous pipeline of opportunities is developed for pursuit, win, and delivery.
- Collaborate with regional project delivery and other teams to develop and be accountable for the pursuit, win, and delivery strategies for all selected key market opportunities.
- Conduct regular outreach with recognized key market participants in planning, finance, design, engineering, and equipment supply to gain and validate market intelligence, verify opportunity tracking, and develop opportunity intelligence that supports building winning strategies for all approved opportunities.
- Assess standard procurement and contract terms from known and potential key market clients and work with industry groups to advocate for improved market and contract conditions.
- Provide leadership and support for selected key market pursuits as required.
- As appropriate, and with guidance from executive management, cooperate with other branches of the organization to develop First Nation partnerships in support of key market opportunities.
Requirements: - 15+ years of experience in the construction industry, preferably with a mix of contractor, designer, and client experience.
- University degree/technology diploma in engineering or a combination of education and industry experience.
- Proven track record of project success and team leadership.
- Strong knowledge of infrastructure such as grade separation, bridges, dams, stormwater management ponds, in-water work, trackwork, and grading.
- Significant experience delivering large-scale projects in a partnership environment.
- Strong experience with alternative delivery mode projects (e.g., Design-Build, P3).
- Solid knowledge of financial management, building codes, and associated legislation.
- Good computer skills, with previous experience using scheduling software.
- Frequent travel across Ontario, with occasional travel across Canada.
- Ability to obtain a security clearance.
