Civil Estimator
Location: Edmonton, AB
Pay: $110K+ (experience dependent)
 
Our client, a leading civil construction contractor specializing in industrial projects, is seeking an Estimator to join their team. This role is critical in developing accurate and competitive cost estimates for large-scale infrastructure projects across Western Canada. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil construction estimation, with experience in industrial site development, earthworks, and utilities.
 
Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil construction projects in the industrial sector.
• Analyze project specifications, drawings, and contracts to determine scope and requirements.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to develop accurate pricing strategies.
• Source and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotes to ensure cost competitiveness.
• Assist in bid preparation, proposal development, and tender submissions.
• Identify potential project risks and provide cost-effective mitigation strategies.
• Maintain and update cost databases, historical data, and estimating tools.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits to assess project conditions.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in civil construction estimating, preferably within the industrial sector.
• Strong understanding of earthworks, utilities, and heavy civil construction methodologies.
• Proficiency in estimating software (such as HeavyBid, Hard Dollar, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple estimates simultaneously.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills for vendor and subcontractor coordination.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
