Designer - Drylining Contractor - Hertfordshire
SSA are recruiting on behalf of a Construction Co who specialise in building Interiors working in the residential and commercial sectors on major projects throughout London and the UK
They are now looking to add to their Head Office Team and have the following permanent position available based in their offices in Hertfordshire/ Central London. The ideal person would be located close to the Ruislip / Uxbridge / Hayes area.
Designer (Interiors)
The company is a leader in the design and installation of interior solutions for the commercial and residential markets.
They specialise in interior fitout packages including partitions, drylining and suspended ceilings
They require a Designer ideally with 3-5 years’ experience who ideally has previous exposure in the design of partitions and ceiling systems.
The Designer is a role with responsibility for delivery of the Company’s design responsibilities within both the commercial and residential divisions.
The Designer will have responsibility for front line delivery of building designs, and will need to provide guidance to the project teams.
The Designer will be involved in projects throughout the tender negotiation stage, acting as the design lead for projects in conjunction with the Design Manager and will need to contribute to winning bids by providing design solutions which offer the client excellent value.
Main Responsibilities
To ensure the adequate management of all internal and external resources to maximise the success of project design requirements.
Develop and maintain regular communication plans with all staff, consultants and contractors to deliver best practice.
Successfully implement and administer the processes and procedures of the Company in order to ensure that all design projects are delivered in compliance with all current and emerging industry standards, statute, and legislation.
Manage the contractual risk giving guidance to both peers and subordinates.
Consider and enforce any environmental requirements within the design submissions.
Manage the internal and external design resources as and when required, to include coordinators/architects/engineers to the requirements of each specific project.
Liaison with key authorities for the approval of designs, such as but not limited to building control.
To develop systems and procedures for the ‘front end design briefing’, accompanying Directors at tender stage to identify/qualify/and quantify the extent of our design requirements and offerings.
Advise the relevant Director of potential risks to the Company on a regular basis and make best use of any tactical advantage that may exist.
Ensure that all project closure activities are completed, and participate in post project reviews with other interested parties, to review successes and learning points as they arise.
Propose solutions that are aligned to the project’s design strategy, and produce design proposals, drawings, specifications and design budgets to the estimating department for tender submission. This will involve developing design initiatives to offer value engineering at both the tender and build stage, and may also involve liaison with key authorities for the approval of designs when necessary.
Research new products and installation processes
Create and distribute O&M Manuals as required.
The vacancy has been created due to the promotion internally of the existing person into a Senior Management position and the re-structuring of the design department amalgamating two divisions.
The business has been trading for over thirty years and provides solutions to many repeat order customers as well as meeting the needs of new customers in the construction industry.
Qualifications required: ACAD Architectural Degree in Design & Mgmt
