Carpentry & Joinery Estimator

Job Overview
My client is seeking an experienced Carpentry & Joinery Estimator to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for carpentry and joinery projects, from initial inquiry through to project delivery. This role is key to ensuring competitive bids and supporting the company’s reputation for excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Estimating:
    • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for carpentry and joinery projects, including materials, labor, and overheads.
    • Analyze project specifications, drawings, and tender documentation to identify scope and requirements.
  • Tendering & Proposals:
    • Lead the preparation and submission of competitive tenders, ensuring deadlines are met.
    • Liaise with clients, architects, and consultants to clarify requirements and address queries.
  • Supplier & Subcontractor Coordination:
    • Obtain quotations from suppliers and subcontractors for materials and services.
    • Evaluate quotes to ensure best value and compliance with project requirements.
  • Value Engineering:
    • Identify opportunities for cost savings and alternative solutions without compromising quality.
  • Reporting & Handover:
    • Provide detailed breakdowns of estimates for project handovers to the delivery team.
    • Maintain accurate records of estimates, tenders, and historical data for future reference.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as an Estimator in carpentry and joinery or a related construction field.
  • Strong knowledge of carpentry and joinery materials, methods, and industry standards.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Causeway, Estimating Edge) and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent numerical, analytical, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities to handle multiple projects.
  • Effective communication skills to liaise with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
