SSA ae recruiting for a Estimator to join a leading global, specialist engineering and construction company within their rail division working on Network Rail CP6 projects. My client have an annual turnover of over £1b and have worked on both large and smaller schemes such as HS2 Phase one & Crossrail
As an Estimator, the responsibilities of your role will include but not be limited to:
- Check Tender Information for completeness and raise potential areas of concern – can this lack of information be useful to us at contract stage? It may be better to leave the lack of information un-clarified.
- Produce quantity take-offs from tender information/drawings using either traditional methods or Causeway/similar software.
- Regularly back-up/save work, in a secure manner, to ensure no data loss exceeds a couple of hours work.
- Preparation, using agreed company format, of Sub-contract & Material enquiry documentation. Forward documentation to Administration Department for formal enquiry issue. Advise on any companies/suppliers who should or should not receive the enquiry.
- Analysis of Sub-Contracts, supplier and merchant quotations – including “normalisation”
- Analysis of benchmark data from historic projects/norms against the first principles tender build ups where possible.
- Discuss and agree resourcing and works outputs with Planner, Bid Manager and delivery team working on the tender.
- On occasions support the bid team by producing methodologies for works delivery to go with tender submissions.
Essential: Rail / Civils Estimating experience
Civil engineering project experience
Working knowledge of Excel (& Word) and Estimating software.
