Job Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Geotechnical Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join our dynamic team in Vancouver. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of experienced engineers and gain hands-on experience in various geotechnical engineering projects. Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the planning and execution of geotechnical site investigations, including soil sampling, drilling supervision, and in-situ testing.
  • Conduct geotechnical analyses and design, including slope stability, foundation design, earth retaining structures, and ground improvement techniques.
  • Prepare geotechnical reports, design calculations, and construction specifications.
  • Support senior engineers in project management tasks, including budgeting, scheduling, and client communication.
  • Perform laboratory testing of soil and rock samples and analyze test results.
  • Participate in field inspections and monitoring during construction to ensure compliance with geotechnical design and specifications.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide integrated engineering solutions.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, standards, and best practices in geotechnical engineering.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Registered as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC).
  • Strong understanding of geotechnical engineering principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in geotechnical software (e.g., GeoStudio, PLAXIS, gINT) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites and conduct fieldwork as required.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering or a related field.
  • Previous internship or co-op experience in geotechnical engineering.
  • Familiarity with local geotechnical conditions and regulatory requirements in British Columbia.
