About the role: As you develop in your role, you will help to promote a culture where safety, health and environmental considerations are integrated into everyday processes. Reporting to the SH&E Director, you will be actively engaged with all levels of management, and at all stages of the construction process, from pre-construction through to completion of works.
Your regular routine will support in the monitoring of workplaces and the investigation of incidents, with a 'management' approach to problem solving, as well as to improve the SH&E management skills of our workforce.
Key responsibilities: - Carry out health and safety responsibilities as outlined in the companies Health, Safety and Environment policy and communicate the policy to employees in the division.
- Consistently communicate the Health, Safety and Environment Policy to all employees.
- Maintain a Health and Safety focus from the top down.
- Promote a strong Health and Safety ethos throughout all projects
- Keeping up to date with HSE industry related bulletins.
- Provide competent advice relating to health, safety and environmental issues to all company employees as required.
- Ensuring compliance in accordance with current regulations, company policies and accreditations by undertaking regular site safety inspections/audits and producing written reports for submission to the site management and Company Directors for their response.
- These include but not limited to:
- That suitable fire, first aid and emergency evacuation procedures have been developed on sites and at offices and all employees and visitors are fully aware of their requirements and actions to be taken by them.
- That there are always suitable and sufficient management and welfare facilities on site, in accordance with current legislation and Company Safety Standard Site Welfare Facilities and that these are maintained on a daily basis in a safe, healthy and defect free condition at all times.
- That all statutory inspections are carried out and those inspections are recorded in the appropriate register at the right time.
About the requirements: - Long and proven experienced in a similar role in the industry (construction / demolition)
- Membership of professional bodies such as IOSH, IIRSM etc.
- Well organised and able to prioritise tasks.
- Ability to work autonomously and within strict deadlines to high standards with excellent attention to detail.
- Confident self-starter with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent oral and written business communication skills.
- Excellent at forging relationships across all levels of the business and with clients.
- Proficient with all Microsoft packages (Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook).
- Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills being able to deal with all levels of employees including Senior Directors in a confident, friendly and professional manner.
- Ability to prioritise a variety of matters as and when they arise and deal with them with full confidentiality, tact and diplomacy.
- Good business awareness.
- Experience of working in a team and on own initiative with minimum supervision.
