Job Title: Health and Safety Coordinator

Location: Greater Toronto Area

They are committed to fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement and are currently seeking a detail-oriented Health and Safety Coordinator to join their team.

Job Summary:
The Health and Safety Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all health and safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure a safe and compliant workplace. This role involves close collaboration with departments to maintain a strong safety culture, provide safety training, conduct inspections, and implement corrective actions where necessary.

Key Responsibilities:
- Policy and Program Development: Create, implement, and update health and safety policies and programs to meet regulatory requirements and align with company standards.
- Risk Assessments: Conduct regular risk assessments, hazard analyses, and audits to identify potential risks and areas for improvement.
- Training and Education: Develop and deliver health and safety training programs for employees, ensuring understanding of workplace safety procedures and protocols.
- Incident Management: Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, and near-misses. Document incidents, analyze root causes, and recommend preventive measures.
- Compliance**: Ensure the workplace adheres to local, state, and federal occupational health and safety regulations.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of inspections, audits, training, and incidents to support compliance reporting and continuous improvement.
- Emergency Preparedness: Coordinate and maintain emergency response plans, including conducting drills and training employees on emergency procedures.
- Safety Culture Development: Work with management and employees to promote a strong safety culture across the organization.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- 2-4 years of experience in health and safety coordination or a related role.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant safety regulations.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to analyze data, assess risk, and develop safety protocols.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite and safety management software.
- Certification in First Aid/CPR and relevant safety certifications (e.g., OSHA 30, CHST) is preferred.
