As a Mechanical Estimator, you will assume a critical role in the pre-construction phase of our client's projects. Working in tandem with project management and business development teams, your duties will entail accurately gauging project expenses and formulating competitive bids.
As a Plumbing/HVAC Estimator, your duties will include:- Assessing the costs of materials, labor, and equipment for mechanical scopes of projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings, and specifications.
- Conducting thorough quantity take-offs to ensure prompt and accurate estimates, proposals, and bid documents.
- Adhering strictly to the tendering process and establishing comprehensive cost monitoring reporting systems and procedures.
- Generating Requests for Information (RFIs) to the Client/Engineer of Record regarding construction package scope elements. Taking the lead in responding to and closing associated RFIs.
- Collecting quotes from various subcontractors and suppliers and integrating them into competitive bids.
- Acting as the main point of contact for clients throughout the bidding process.
- Debriefing with the Chief Estimator after the award of contracts/jobs to discuss quoted material.
- Participating in presenting estimates/proposals to senior management.
- Participating in project development activities, including scope definition and clarification, pre-construction planning, and control estimate development.
- Following through on awarded contracts, estimating extra work and change orders.
- Administering contracts, including preparing contracts and purchase orders, tracking project costs, attending site meetings, ordering materials, client invoicing, dispute resolution, and other related project management tasks.
Qualified candidates should have:- Preferably 3+ years of relevant experience in estimating.
- Experience using Bid2Win (B2W) estimation software is beneficial.
- Strong computer skills.
- Proven track record of project coordination and team collaboration.
- Effective communication, analytical, planning, time management, problem-solving, and organizational skills with high attention to detail.
Must be located in Canada to be considered.
