Project Accountant – Intermediate to Senior

Our client is a rapidly growing real estate development firm specializing in mixed-use and multi-family residential projects. Established less than a decade ago, they have a strong pipeline of projects for the coming year, including developments in Burquitlam and Surrey. Our mission is to create high-quality spaces that enhance community living.

Position Overview:
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant to join their team in Richmond, BC. This role will focus on managing the financial aspects of development projects, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance, and cost control. The ideal candidate will have experience in construction or real estate accounting and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and track project budgets, costs, and forecasts.
  • Set up and maintain detailed job cost records for development projects.
  • Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
  • Reconcile project accounts, general ledger balances, and bank accounts.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports, including budget-to-actual analyses.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, contracts, and internal policies.
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure cost efficiency and financial accuracy.
Qualifications:
  • Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or real estate development.
  • Skills & Attributes:
    • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage 300, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
    • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Certifications (Preferred):
    • CPA designation or progress toward certification is an asset.
