Our Client is looking for an ICI (Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional) Construction Project Manager position in Ottawa, here are some common requirements and expectations:
Qualifications
- Experience in Ottawa: Local experience is often crucial, as it demonstrates familiarity with Ottawa’s market, local building codes, regulatory environment, and relevant stakeholders.
- Previous Work with a General Contractor: Experience with a general contractor is typically preferred. This experience is valuable for understanding the full scope of project management, including coordination with subcontractors, budgeting, scheduling, and quality control.
- Educational Background: A degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field is generally required.
- Professional Certifications: Certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or Gold Seal Certification can be advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Project Planning and Coordination: Leading project planning, budgeting, and scheduling. This includes coordination with architects, engineers, clients, and subcontractors.
- Cost and Quality Control: Managing budgets, negotiating contracts, and ensuring high-quality standards.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Overseeing adherence to safety regulations and protocols.
- Client and Stakeholder Communication: Acting as the main point of contact for clients, ensuring clear communication and project alignment.
Preferred Skills
- Leadership and Communication: Strong ability to lead teams and effectively communicate across all levels of the project.
- Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of ICI construction practices, including materials, methodologies, and construction technologies.
- Problem Solving: Experience in troubleshooting construction challenges and mitigating risks.
