About the Role Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Construction Estimator to join their team in Abbotsford, BC.
This role is ideal for a highly skilled estimator with local experience in civil, utilities, roads, and bridge projects.
The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing accurate cost estimates, analyzing project specifications, and ensuring competitive bidding.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates for civil infrastructure projects, including roads, utilities, and bridges.
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and addenda to determine material, labor, and equipment requirements.
- Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to obtain competitive pricing.
- Conduct risk assessments, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure estimates align with project scope and budget.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to refine estimates and develop value engineering strategies.
- Review and submit RFPs, RFQs, and bid proposals in a timely and professional manner.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes impacting civil construction costs.
- Minimum 8+ years of estimating experience in civil, utilities, road, or bridge construction.
- Strong knowledge of local market conditions, subcontractor networks, and material costs in British Columbia.
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., HCSS HeavyBid, Bid2Win, or similar).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, and contracts.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- A degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
