A post-secondary degree or diploma in Electrical Technology, with at least 10 years of relevant experience.
Professional Engineer registration in good standing with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
Proficient in CAD and design software, including AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Revit.
Understanding of principles and practices within the electrical construction industry, particularly for replacement and new installation projects.
Knowledge of electrical and control engineering related to water and wastewater treatment, as well as pumping facilities.
Experience with cable routing, detailed conduit system design, cable terminations, and support structures.
Familiar with OESC, CSA, IEEE standards, O.Reg. 22/04, and typical equipment dimensions and connection details.
Acquainted with low and medium voltage distribution equipment, such as cables, transformers, switches, and switchgear.
Strong problem-solving and multitasking abilities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Familiarity with substation design is a plus.
Experience with equipment commissioning and grounding grid testing is an asset.
Knowledge of renewable technologies, including hydroelectric, wind, solar, and energy storage, is beneficial.
Experience in cost estimation is advantageous.
Registration with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) is a plus.
Responsibilities:
Create preliminary and detailed drawings for electrical and civil designs related to overhead and underground distribution systems, as well as building and facility electrical and control systems.
Ensure all design work complies with applicable codes and standards.
Communicate and coordinate proposed design drawings with interdisciplinary teams and clients for review, making revisions as necessary.
Conduct material and labor cost estimates and provide technical input for reports, specifications, proposals, and project schedules.
Prepare applications for ESA or municipal construction permits.
Provide regular project status updates to the Project Manager.
Assist with additional duties and tasks as assigned.
