Our client, a well-established building systems engineering consultancy with a strong presence in Western Canada, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Designer to join their team in Calgary or Edmonton. Key Responsibilities:
  • Mechanical Design Leadership: Develop and lead mechanical designs for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems across various projects, ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and client expectations.
  • Project Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated building solutions.
  • Technical Expertise: Create detailed drawings, specifications, and documentation using software like AutoCAD and Revit MEP.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct design reviews and ensure accuracy and constructability of all mechanical systems.
  • Mentorship: Guide and mentor junior designers and technologists, promoting a culture of knowledge-sharing and professional growth.
  • Client Engagement: Support client meetings and presentations, addressing technical inquiries and incorporating feedback into designs.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in mechanical design within the building systems engineering sector.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and other design tools; experience with energy modeling software is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian building codes, ASHRAE standards, and mechanical engineering principles.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience in sustainable design or LEED-accredited projects is an advantage.
