Job Title: Vice President of Operations
Whom do you report to: Shareholders & President
Salary: $180,000 - $250,000 + Other Perks
Must Haves:
- Extensive Industry Experience: A deep understanding of the construction industry, particularly within the ICI sector in the GTA, is crucial. This includes familiarity with project management, building codes, and regulations
- Financial Acumen: Competence in budgeting, cost control, and financial management to ensure projects are completed within financial constraints.
- Talent Acquisition: Experience being involved in Interviewing, Hiring, and Onboarding new employees.
Job Description/Responsibilities:
- Attend all shareholder board meeting
- Interview and hire new employees
- Coordinate and administer employee performance and salary reviews
- Manage and resolve daily issues, working with both office and site staff to improve company morale
- Review the safety requirements for all employees and sites with our safety officer
- Oversee the enforcement of the health and safety policy at all sites and the head office
- Ensure that safety training records are accurate and up to date
- Confirm that all available training programs and updates are being coordinated with all our staff
- Encourage all staff to upgrade their skill set by signing up for the programs offered by the construction organizations
- Contribute and organize events for local charitable organizations
- Liaison with the controller on all financial issues which include accounts payable and receivables
- Oversee the negotiations of contracts for the rental and purchase of all equipment and tools with the shareholders
- Oversee the purchase/rental of fleet vehicles with the shareholders
- Oversee the monthly rentals of all equipment and tools
- Assist in the review of all legal proceedings to ensure a timely cost-effective resolution
- Support resolution of all union disputes and grievances as required
- Oversee all WSIB and insurance claims for all issues
- Review with the employees the maintenance of tools and equipment
- Oversee the overall schedule for compliance of all projects and ensure that the project managers update the schedules monthly
- Ensure that all site superintendents are preparing and submitting 3 week's look ahead schedules every week
- Oversee all site superintendents’ reports
- Oversee all job cost reports regularly for labour, material equipment
- Oversee WA logs to ensure that they are up-to-date and accurate
- Assist project superintendents with site logistics, setup, and site activities
- Ensure all site reviews are being held and that company safety and quality standards are being adhered to
- Ensure that deficiency lists are initiated early in the project and completed promptly to the satisfaction of both the owner and architect
- Oversee the shop drawing log and as-built progress for all jobs
