Intelligent transportation system in Al Ain, which will cost $31 million, gets the go-ahead.
The Executive Committee of Abu Dhabi Executive Council has approved a number of projects worth $82.76 million, it has been announced.
All the projects are listed in the Abu Dhabi Plan, a WAM report said. It added that the approvals came during a meeting held under the chairmanship of Saeed Eid Al Ghafil.
The committee also approved a project to develop infrastructure for an intelligent transportation system in Al Ain, which will cost $31 million. This project aims to improve public safety on Al Ain main roads, through the use of intelligent systems for the early detection and response to accidents. Furthermore, it will also help reduce congestion and subsequent delays, while minimising emissions.
Approval was also granted for the design and delivery of a project for issuing housing coupons in the Al Quo area of Al Ain. 191 coupons will be issued at a total value of $26.13 million, under the terms of the project.
A project to carry out preliminary and earth works in the commercial enclave of Medinat Zayed in Abu Dhabi City was approved by the committee. The $20.14 million project will be built over an area of 1,500 hectares, and will accommodate 300,000 people as residents. It will also host 320,000 business staff.
Finally, the committee also awarded a $5.44 million contract for the development of public parks in Abu Dhabi, and another contract for the renovation and expansion of the Central Souq in Medinat Zayed.
