Developers announced last week that West Hollywood’s two-building Edition Hotel and Residences hit a major construction benchmark last week when it “topped out,” a term that signals that the last major beam has been placed in the complex.
The hotel will feature 190 rooms and 20 condos, according to developer Witkoff and its partner, New Valley LLC. The hotel rooms will be operated by Marriott.
The Edition, seen in previous renderings as a lush, plant-draped structure, was designed by minimalist architect John Pawson with hotelier Ian Schrager, often credited as the creator of the modern boutique hotel.
The project is scheduled for completion in 2018.
The Edition will sit at firmly on the Sunset Strip, at the corner of Sunset Boulevard and Doheny Drive. Its immediate neighbor to the east is another hotel, still in the early stages of development but similarly unique in design. (It looks like a luxurious take on a tornado potato.)
